My name is Farinaz (you can also call me Farina), and I moved to Canada to continue my journey in counselling. Since then, I’ve been building my life and career here in beautiful British Columbia. Spring in Vancouver has a special place in my heart—I feel like people are happier and more open during this time, and it brings such a positive energy. It’s also meaningful to me because I was born in April, and in my culture, the New Year begins in spring, so it always feels like a fresh start.

Outside of my work, I’m someone who truly values connection, growth, and enjoying the little moments in life. I absolutely love music and dancing—especially tango and swing—and I’ve been actively pursuing it. Dancing is a space where I can freely move, feel deeply, and express my emotions. It allows me to let go of the worries of daily life, even if just for a little while, and reconnect with myself.

Therapeutic Approach

Hello

Scope of Practice

Education & Qualification

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with a thesis about psychotherapy (Emotion Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy) for children with ADHD.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families, particularly those facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and emotional regulation difficulties. In addition to her counselling experience, I have worked as a child care worker with children across a wide range of age groups, which has strengthened my understanding of developmental needs and my ability to build meaningful connections with children and families.

I value building strong, trusting therapeutic relationships. I am passionate about supporting clients in a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where they can feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. My therapeutic approach is client-centered and integrative. I have experience working with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). I am also currently expanding my skills and training in EMDR. I have completed and continue to pursue additional training in counselling and mental health to further support my clients with evidence-based and culturally sensitive care.

I provide counselling in both English and Persian (Farsi).
